Andina
The Andina Division operates since 1970, and it is located eighty kilometers north east of Santiago, 3,700 to 4,200 meters above sea level. Currently this division executes ore exploitation in the Río Blanco underground mine and the Sur Sur open pit mine.
Andina produces more than 200,000 metric tons a year of copper concentrate. Also, Andina delivers more than 2,500 metric tons of Molybdenum per year.
One of the first services which Micomo started its operations was photonics communication services for Andina Division.
During 2006, this Division began the deployment of the Integrated Information Platform for Decision Making in Real Time (PiiTD) which seeks to integrate multiple monitoring (data and videos), control and command control systems for the underground mine’s processes, with a view to implement remote operation and increasing automation to ensure safe and efficient work, adding value to Codelco’s business operation.
Micomo provides to this platform the high-speed transport system for this huge amount of information and videos, centralizing the mine’s main systems into a state-of-the-art control room located in Saladillo, 40 km away from the operation, and at the same time offers an additional communication way through Los Andes.
